Every registered employer in Puerto Rico receives a letter
from Hacienda, explaining the requirements for the W-2 PR and 480s. This
letter includes the control numbers each employer needs for filing the
W-2 PR forms, including the 480.6B, 480.6C, 480.7, 480.7A, and 480.7B.
Then PRSoft releases a document explaining how these procedures are implemented
in PRPay. For additional information, visit Hacienda's web page at www.hacienda.gobierno.pr.
Service providers for other employers must ask their clients
for the Hacienda letter including the control numbers. Service providers
may no longer "blanket" clients with one range of numbers; employers
must file with their own set of control numbers. The PRPay software handles
all these changes and each company has its own field for control numbers.
In addition, Hacienda will no longer allow service providers to solicit
control numbers on behalf of their clients.
If you are printing informative returns and the first sequence runs out of numbers, PRPay automatically selects the second sequence to continue.
