Backup / Restore

This section explains how to do a backup of the data in PRPay and how to bring back the backup data into PRPay.

Creating Backups

It is extremely important to run a regular backup. Your data is valuable, and circumstances are sometimes unpredictable and uncontrollable. For example, if you are running PRPay and experience a blackout, data and even hard disk damage might occur. Your data is only as safe as your last good backup.

We recommend to backup on 2 different media. A backup to the same drive that hosts your PRPay program is not a good backup. Make one onto another drive and/or a floppy or CD and take it off-premises.

Please back up your data regularly, especially after processing new information.

  1. Click File on the PRPay toolbar and select Backup/Restore.

This window also appears when you are closing PRPay and select to backup files.

  1. The From field displays the location of your data at this moment.
  2. On the To field, click Browse to select the location where you want to save the backup.

If you save the backup in the same location where you have a previous backup, PRPay will overwrite the old backup with the current data.

  1. Click OK.
  2. On the Backup Files pop-up window, click OK to continue.
  3. Once done, the Backup Data window will display the message "Backup complete!"
  4. Click Close to exit this window.

At PRSoft, we really feel terrible when a user calls us to help recover lost data. We always try our best to do so, but we are not always successful if the user does not have a good backup. Creating a backup only takes a few seconds. It's worth the time every time.

Restoring Backups

  1. Click File on the PRPay toolbar and select Backup/Restore. The Backup Data window appears.

The data to be restored will overwritte the current data in PRPay.

  1. Select Restore.
  2. The To field shows the location where the data will be placed.
  3. On the From field click Browse and search for the source backup file (prpay.zip).
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click OK on the Restore files pop-up window to continue.
  6. Click Close on the Packing file pop-up window.
  7. Click OK on the Rebuild successful window.
  8. Once done, the Restore Data window will display the message "Restore complete!"
